We are back!
I guess we can apply for a mention in the Guinness Book of Records for totally revamping the AMEA site in less than 48 hours. It needed to be done and there was not much time to do it, so if run you into any problems on the new site, please report them.
Most of the content of the site is still the same and what kept going through my mind while hustling code to produce a site that would work better for most of us was that I still can not see why the previous interface was such a disaster. It was obvious when this site went up. In only a few hours we generated more hits than we used to generate in 24 hours.
On the site we deleted I had worked for months and I was positive it was going to be a success. Instead it became an absolute disaster. First I blamed the hosting, then slowly I started to see what was already evident for most others. I fucked up. Big time! AMEA has always had a certain look and I wanted something completely different. This new site is only live now for 10 hours or so. It has some of that old AMEA feel.
I can philosophize about this for hours, but what I should have done a year ago was to ask our visitors what went wrong. Now – better late than never I am going to ask you this question anyway. Leave a reply and I will see what I can do to create a better AMEA.
